Pin Grading

All pins are handmade so they'll have some imperfections.

I do NOT sell collectors grade pins. Collector grade pins are completely flawless pins. As these are handmade they are likely to have some imperfections. There will be at least one flaw on the pin.

I grade pins at an arm's length away.  Meaning that if the flaw is not noticeable from a short distance then I do not consider the pin to be a B-Grade.

Note: Pin are graded on a design by design basis.

STANDARD GRADE
(1-2 flaws)

  • Slightly misaligned screenprint
  • Imperfections on the back/side of the pin
  • Small bubbles on pins coated with epoxy.
  • Tiny glitter specs
  • Minor metal plating imperfections or scratches
  • Light nicks and scratches on the enamel color
  • Singular flaws

B GRADE/SECONDS
(2 or more flaws)

  • Scratching on the enamel or metal
  • Majory flaws on the face of a pin
  • Large area wrong color enamel
  • Under-fill
  • Missing enamel color
  • Noticeable bubbles on Epoxy covered pins or stained glass.

C GRADE

  • Major screenprinting issues
  • Holes in enamel
  • Missing metal area/lines
  • Large scratches or chipped dents
Dyed enamel pins have a different range of flaws including:
Squiggly lines
Overfill/underfill
Lack of plating in areas
Stray specks of glitter, dust or fuzzies

* If a pin includes any of the above flaws it is not automatically considered a seconds grade pin.
.
Dyed enamel pins will be graded on a batch by batch basis. Seconds pins include flaws that take away from the overall quality of the pin. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A "PERFECT" PIN I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU PURCHASE MY PINS IN DYED ENAMEL
